The City of Philadelphia continues to model what inclusive, community-rooted governance can look like—and the July 2025 edition of My City My News is a powerful reflection of that commitment. Now featured on the National Black Police Association platform, this issue uplifts voices, programs, and public service efforts that align closely with NBPA’s core values: justice, equity, safety, and opportunity.
This month marks the launch of NeoGov, a smarter, more accessible civil service job platform, making it easier than ever for Philadelphians to find meaningful careers in public service. For those dedicated to protecting and serving with integrity, this platform is a gateway to new opportunities and leadership roles across the city.
The newsletter also celebrates Disability Pride Month, highlights mental health awareness, and includes a message from Chief Human Resources Officer Candi Blossom Jones, honoring the tireless dedication of over 28,000 city workers, including those in law enforcement, who work every day to uplift their communities.
The Philadelphia Department of Prisons is spotlighted for graduating its largest cadet class in over a decade, while also investing in officer wellness, training, and mentorship. These efforts underscore the city’s belief that building safer communities begins with a well-supported workforce.
Looking ahead, Philadelphia is preparing for a history-making summer in 2026, hosting the MLB All-Star Game, FIFA World Cup, and ArtPhilly—all commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States. With free summer events like family movie nights, open mic poetry, cultural markets, and youth employment programs, the city continues to invest in accessible, enriching experiences for all residents.
We invite NBPA members and supporters to explore the full newsletter below and see how Philadelphia is centering equity, celebration, and community in all it does.
