Miya Anderson

My name is Miya Anderson. My journey to justice began as a young girl watching crime dramas with my family and, later, witnessing a real-life tragedy in the murder of my oldest brother. Those experiences inspired my admiration for the dedication of those who serve their communities.

Years later, I found a second family in the National Black Police Association, where mentors helped shape and guide me as I began my law enforcement career in the 14th District. Now, five years into my career, I remain committed to service, leadership, and my goal of becoming a detective.  When I’m not serving my community, you’ll likely find me crocheting. Fair warning: if you ask me about crochet while I’m recording, there’s a good chance I’ll spend the next thirty minutes explaining yarn weights, stitch counts, and why one project somehow turned into three.

As Recording Secretary of the National Black Police Association, I am honored to give back to the organization that helped mold me while continuing to inspire and support the next generation of law enforcement professionals.
